to have the other documents back in due course,

I have added to my affidavit, so that the Governor should have sworn evidence on the point, a state- ment of my present position and the urgent need for an immediate release of my late husband's shares for the purpose of supporting myself and my three children. Since I wrote you on April 24 my financial position and my health are worse than ever. My debts have increased: the Gas Company has cut off its supply, and my landlord has threat- ened to put an end to my tenancy, and I literally do not know where to obtain money from day to day for necessaries. I simply do not know what I am to do during the delay that

would be caused by such a reference; I really do not know

what I am to do until the shares are released even if they

are released at once. My Mother, Mae. Guignard, who has been helping me, is under Doctor's orders to leave Shanghai, and the assistance she has given and is giving me financial)};
